Description:
This is an easy
way to stretch the legs on a weekend and get some nice views from a new pe
rspective of Queenstown. Navigation on this hike is very straightforward. Simply follow Coal Pit Road all the way to the Coal Pit Saddle Historic Site. This is basically a very well maintained backcountry road. Once the top of the saddle is reached, you will see a sign for MtRosa. Follow this foot track to the left of the road along the ridge of Mt Rosa until a very broad summit is reached. This spot offers great views of the Remarkables Range. It took us about 3.5hrs to reach the summit and return to the car.
Looking Down toward Queenstown.
Ruby walking in the typical landscape of the area. Just an old farm track through the tussock.
